BUILD Ethiopia: back to basics

From 3 to 4 July 2025, Addis Ababa hosted a BUILD conference attended by 117 church leaders from over ten different denominations.

Right from the opening, the atmosphere was marked by a real thirst for God. Apostle Stephen Gachengo and Pastor Peter McKenzie shared messages centred on the cross, calling God’s servants to get back to basics. They also showed the dangers that await God’s servants when religious or worldly influences take over from obedience to God’s Word.

The second day continued in the same direction. Bishop Peter Njao shared on the importance of knowing the truth, Peter McKenzie returned to the need to die to self, Stephen issued a call to return to an uncompromising Gospel.

Many participants testified that they had been deeply touched. One pastor said: “These messages have awakened something in me. I can’t preach like I used to.”

On the sidelines of the conference, three churches took advantage of the presence of these pastors for their Sunday services. Peter Njao was in Addis Ababa, Peter McKenzie in Bishoftu and Stephen Gachengo in Adama. These meetings were a real encouragement for the Church in Ethiopia.

This short stay was another step in the work God is doing in East Africa, bringing together servants of God around the cross and the truth of the Gospel.
