church visit | Pastors Stephen Gachengo and Peter McKenzie | Tanzania
Pastors Stephen Gachengo and Peter McKenzie travelled to Tanzania to visit the church and support the family of Elly Mpule, who recently lost her daughter. It was a very encouraging time for the family, but also for the churches in Shinyanga and the surrounding area, which were able to enjoy some special meetings.
On Friday Stephen urged the church to seek spiritual riches, those that do not disappear, because the flesh cannot inherit the kingdom of God. Peter shared about the importance of keeping a pure heart, because that’s where life springs from.
On Saturday, the church was called to grow in the knowledge of Christ, reminding us that just believing in him is not enough. The difference between a believer and a disciple is when we are prepared to suffer for him.
During Sunday morning worship, Peter spoke about how God works. Suffering when we take up our cross breaks our will so that we can accept his.
Finally, on the way back to Nairobi, the team stopped at the church in Mwanza, Tanzania, which was encouraged to remain faithful to the Gospel. They were warned against the wiles of the devil, and called to deny themselves. The Gospel must take root in our hearts if it is to bear fruit.
