Mission to Slovenia: 3 Days of Sharing and Fellowship
From 5th to 7th September 2025, Pastor Jocelyn Séry and his wife Claudie visited Slovenia to minister at Pastor Srečko’s church in Maribor. It proved to be an enriching mission marked by exceptional Christian fellowship.
The couple received a warm welcome and discovered a peaceful country with magnificent landscapes, where every family cultivates their own vegetable gardens and vineyards. This provided them with the opportunity to enjoy organic produce and excellent quality grapes! Pastor Srečko was careful to explain his guests’ origins to the congregation. To help locate Réunion Island, he referenced Madagascar and particularly Mauritius, following Pastor Roland La Hausse’s recent visit. As Réunion Island is not well known, several brothers and sisters took it upon themselves to research and learn more about it.
Three key meetings defined this mission. On Friday evening, Pastor Jocelyn addressed approximately fifty participants on the difference between the two covenants and our new status as children of God. Saturday morning saw a smaller gathering of 25 people, where he explored the distinction between fear and reverence of God—the latter being essential for serving Him in freedom. An enriching question-and-answer session followed. Finally, on Sunday morning before 90 people, Jocelyn emphasized the importance of having God’s Word written on our hearts and the grace of becoming sons and daughters of promise through Abraham and Sarah.
Both Jocelyn and Claudie were deeply moved by the melodious Slovenian worship songs. Despite the language barrier, genuine fellowship prevailed. Many congregation members expressed their gratitude and hoped for future visits. The visit concluded with a traditional Slovenian lunch and a tour of Maribor, graciously hosted by Pastor Srečko and his wife Melena.
Their return journey to Paris ended with dinner among the elders and the unexpected joy of reconnecting with Pastor Stephen Gachengo, who had just arrived.
This mission proved to be a true encouragement for Jocelyn and Claudie, who witnessed firsthand the spiritual hunger of their Slovenian brothers and sisters, experienced their generous hospitality, and observed their sincere desire to grow deeper in God’s Word.
