Godly Parents Beget Godly Offspring

Godly Parents Beget Godly Offspring

A great number of the youth in our generation have lost direction because they have no spiritual or moral compass in their lives; often, this is due to their parents not having one either! Today, we see parents at war with each other and often divorced. Young people return home from school to find no one at home, and are left to their own devices, free to do as they please. They have uncontrolled access to TV, video games, texting, social media, and the internet, which can expose them to all kinds of perversion and ungodly activities. Yet, young people are desperate to be loved, respected, and understood. They are actively seeking for role models and direction for their lives. If not from their parents, then they look to the world, where rebellion, immorality, and evil abound. They are allowed too much control over their own lives, at far too young an age, often making life-damaging decisions.

Most parents are completely oblivious to what is happening right in their own homes, being simply too preoccupied with their own lives. Children don’t need a list of do’s and don’ts, but instead for parents to wake up and take responsibility for being role models. If the Church today does not preach a message that clearly defines what Jesus accomplished on the Cross, and what He desires of us today, parents will continue to live for themselves and their children will never see an example of repentance, brokenness, and humility. This is the truth and the only way to bring the reality of the Christian life into the home. This needs to become a way of life and the foundation of every family; a family where parents love each other and are ready to lay down their lives for their children, just as Christ has done for them.
