A Happy Family
“Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her.” – Proverbs 31:28
We know from Scripture that the husband is the head of the home, but the fact remains that the wife is the most important person when it comes to raising the children, making them feel secure and loved, always being there to listen, and to encourage them as they grow and face the challenges of life. In general, bringing the warm atmosphere and stability in the home so that when dad comes back from work, he finds a happy and settled family. It is also true that there are times when the woman ends up carrying burdens that should not be hers, because the husband has failed in his responsibility, towards his wife, the children, or in the practical everyday things that need doing in the home. However, if the wife loses her respect for her husband, steps into the place that is not hers, it will result in conflict and discord in the home.
This is why it is so important for her to have the right heart attitude of submission towards him, despite his weaknesses and shortfalls. But for that to happen, it will definitely take a deep work of the Lord in her heart. We recently heard a testimony from a family who had backslidden and left the church. The husband had become so irresponsible that his wife would regularly tell her children of her plans to divorce him. In fact, one day, in the midst of an argument, the 7-year-old son asked his mother, ‘So when are you going to leave him?’ Today, it’s very different. The family has come back to the Lord and the same son now says to his mother, ‘take your cross mom, take your cross.’ It’s a wonderful story that testifies to the power of the Gospel to change lives and bring true unity into any home. Therefore, having a heart of submission is key for God’s order to reign in the home.
